Chief Executive Officer
Dan Marzuola, brings over thirty years of experience in the energy industry spanning retail and wholesale energy sales, marketing, engineering, and government relations. Marzuola spent 14 years with TXU in various positions from a System Planning Engineer to the General Manager of a natural gas distribution system in Mexico. During his time with TXU he was appointed by the Governor of Texas as a member of the Oil and Gas Compact Commission. After leaving TXU he strengthened his tenure in the energy industry as an energy executive, which included 7 years with Hudson Energy as the Senior Vice President of North America Sales and the General Manager of the United Kingdom operations. Marzuola holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the Southern Methodist University, and an MBA.
Vice President & General Counsel
Kevin McAlpin brings over 20 years of combined legal and risk experience. McAlpin’s expertise includes general corporate law, complex energy product transactions, regulatory affairs and compliance issues, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, contract negotiations, and business management. He previously worked in executive and legal counsel roles for Just Energy, Standard Renewable Energy, and ExxonMobil. McAlpin is a graduate of The Citadel and holds an MBA from the University of Mississippi, as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Houston Law Center. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the American Corporate Counsel Association.
Chief Technology Officer
Jason Ives is the Chief Technology Officer for Energy Market Exchange (EMEX, LLC). Ives has 20 years of experience in software engineering, specializing in web applications. He is responsible for leading major software engineering efforts from concept through implementation. Ives provides team leadership in project planning and technical design, defining project scope and methodologies. Ives manages EMEX’s global development and engineering team throughout the US and South America.
Chief Sales Officer
Kris Hertel brings over 25 years of sales and marketing experience, including 19 years in retail energy. Prior to joining EMEX, Hertel served as Chief Sales Officer for North American Power-Business until the company was sold to Calpine in 2017. Other leadership positions include, Chief Marketing Officer at Circular Energy and Vice President of North American Commercial Markets at Hudson Energy. Before joining Hudson Energy, Hertel held various leadership positions in commercial direct and indirect sales for Direct Energy and TXU Energy. Kris is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.
Chief Financial Officer
As Chief Financial Officer of Energy Market Exchange, Kurt Keller brings over 20 years of accounting and finance experience with a focus in the energy industry. Keller’s work experience includes 10 years with Navasota Energy, seven years at Deloitte and two years at Sonat Energy Services. Keller received a bachelor’s degree in economics from Baylor University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations.
Vice President, Strategy and Analytics
As one of the original members of the EMEX team, Chris Page has greatly contributed to the growth of EMEX from a small brokerage to one of the nation’s largest and most respected energy management firms. Page oversees marketing functions essential to expanding EMEX’s overall customer reach and service portfolio. Working alongside the development team, Page has spent years developing and optimizing core features utilized in EMEX’s cutting-edge procurement platform. Christopher Page graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Texas Tech University and has been active in the energy management sector since 2009.
Chief Operating Officer of EMEX Utility Group
Mike Nemer brings over 30 years of experience in the energy markets ranging from drilling, trading, developing hedge programs, managing an OTC energy brokerage team and helping start up CTA’s. Nemer’s work experience began with trading refined fuels with Petroleum Trading and Transportation, followed by Enron. Nemer opened an office for TFS Energy, where they brokered natural gas, crude oil, power and retail electricity. Soon after, Nemer decided to focus on the futures market as an introducing broker representing multiple FCM’s, which led him to The Dow Corporation. Nemer holds a bachelor’s degree from The University of Kansas and is also recognized as one of the founding members of the University of Houston’s C.T. Bauer College of Business Dean Advisory Board. He also holds both Series 3 and Series 30 licenses.
