The proprietary reverse auction platform has created a strategic shift in how energy is bought and sold throughout the country and is now considered a best practice for energy procurement.
The Pricing Analyst will support EMEX’s sales team, with minimal guidance, by compiling and analyzing retail electricity & natural gas supply rates from our network of national energy suppliers. The analyst will assist EMEX’s commercial, industrial, and governmental clients in navigating complex, competitive energy supply markets; in purchasing energy at the best available rates; and in securing favorable contract language and terms in line with the client’s risk tolerance.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Collecting pricing from third party suppliers
Collaborate with the sales team to define the requirements for pricing retail energy opportunities on a per-deal basis
Develop and distribute Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to retail energy suppliers
Assemble responses from retail energy suppliers to create pricing reports on the EMEX Platform
Apply statistical and mathematical techniques to forecast product performance and estimated savings versus local utility tariffs
Understand risk management and provide Intel and strategies for the purpose of assisting the client in getting the best possible price for their electricity or gas needs.
Reverse Auction preparation and execution
Market Research including preparing weekly commodity updates and reporting on regulatory updates at the utility, State and Federal levels
Ability to effectively process, understand and review large amounts of data in a timely manner
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Ability to think critically and analytically. Detail-oriented and be able to work effectively under time constraints
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)- Basic document work. Excel use requires dealing with large amounts of data and being able to synthesize and analyze it accordingly.
Basic knowledge of the deregulated energy space in the United States
Understanding of energy commodity markets with a focus in PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, ISO New England, MISO or CAISO
1 – 3 years of retail energy or oil & gas industry experience
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
BA or BS from an accredited university, preferably in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, or other related fields.
