Jackson Township Turns to EMEX to Save on its Energy Supply

EMEX, LLC, one of the largest privately held energy consulting and risk management firms in North America, has successfully partnered with Jackson Township in Ocean County New Jersey to obtain optimal savings for the Township’s electricity supply.

Jackson Township consumes over 1,900,000 kWh in electricity annually to operate their municipally owned buildings and structures, as well as an additional 1,800,000 kWh for their lighting requirements.  Based on the township’s current energy rates, the combined spend on their electricity supply exceeds $250,000.

“When Jackson Township approached EMEX to provide a better solution for their energy costs, I knew that the EMEX Reverse Auction was the ideal solution,” commented Mike Stoller, National Energy Portfolio Director.  “The competitive aspect and transparency of a live auction validated once again why EMEX was recently awarded Business Leader of the Year by the NJ Conference of Mayors, and why over 200 New Jersey municipalities turn to EMEX for energy procurement and management solutions.”

Through the EMEX Reverse Auction, Jackson Township had every major energy supplier in the market compete to be their next vendor in an efficient and transparent process.  The township’s auctions attracted highly competitive suppliers, who over the course of the two events, continually bid and counter bid against each other to ultimately win the Township’s energy supply contracts.

Upon completion, the EMEX Reverse Auction resulted in rates that will provide Jackson Township with a combined savings of over $29,000 annually over their current supply expenditure, which had previously been procured through a state municipal energy aggregation.  Additionally, when compared to the default tariffs in JCP&L, the township’s new contracts are projected to save an excess of $85,500 over the 18-month term.
